The Company

BH&S Insurance Services Ltd was formed in 2003 when three local and well established firms merged. A year later Mid Devon Insurance also joined BH&S. Whilst we are based in Tiverton and most of our clients are local we have clients throughout the UK. We pride ourselves in our service, independence and professional advice.

Professional Advice

It is important to realise the value of the advice we provide as we use our expertise to ensure the suitability of the product we recommend. Many direct and internet insurers and even some intermediaries do not provide advised sales and leave it to the client to check the policy is suitable for them. Any errors are then often only discovered when a claim is declined.

Independence

Our independence means we are free to use the whole market, either direct with Insurers, at Lloyd’s of London via specialist brokers or on schemes designed especially for certain trades and professions. This means we are normally considering a wider choice of Insurer before making a recommendation to you.

Service

As a local intermediary we rely on recommendations and word of mouth for new business so an excellent service to our clients is paramount. We aim to treat all our clients the same way we would want and expect to be treated ourselves by putting the customer first. Our service also includes assistance with claims to ensure that they progress smoothly, timely and fairly. We can often use our experience to help secure an improved claim settlement for customers.

Types of Insurance we handle

We deal with all types of general insurance including business insurance for one man bands to firms with multi million pound turnovers, as well as personal insurance such as household and motor. Please see the trade specific details later in this brochure for more details.

Westinsure

We are part of the Westinsure network which has grown rapidly from its origins in the South West to its current base in Swindon to cover the whole of the UK. Westinsure now has over 180 members and controls around £300 million in gross written premium.

We remain entirely independent as a member of Westinsure but also have access to exclusive and preferential deals with Insurance partners which often offer enhanced cover and terms. We feel that this gives BH&S Insurance the best of both worlds, true independence and the size to negotiate with Insurers.
